It’s AI playtime again folks. A time which I get to play with a deep learning neural net once again. What is totally mind blowing is the fact that all these images took the Automattic AI less than a minute to generate! It not only “bakes my noodle” it goes on to make the entire bloody casserole! In my next post in this series I will delve into the actual technology behind this and it will surprise you. It surprised me.
INPUT: A lone mountain rising out of a desolate plain with dragon-like creatures circling it in the midst of an autumn rainstorm.

Nice! J.R.R. Tolkien meets George R.R. Martin.
INPUT: A man and a woman in skin-tight suits parachuting through the interior of an immense library.

Excellent, although there is only the woman parachuter; maybe the man is out of view!
INPUT: A group of intrepid 19th century mountaineers scaling a mountain range made out of giant Rubik’s Cubes bathed in the gold and crimson light of twin suns.

It’s very good, as usual, but not exactly as I had imagined it; i.e. I was thinking that the mountains themselves would be the Rubik’s Cubes…and there is only one sun. Maybe I get too greedy!
INPUT: A train being pulled through the Amazon jungle by a team of ostriches.

Book me a ticket!
INPUT: Persian princes and princesses riding robot elephants through a forest and letters and numbers.

Fabuloso! 😊All three Persian royals look pretty, but I realized that the middle front one must be the “prince.” As usual I had a typo because my original intention was the the trees would have leaves made out of letters and numbers, but I like this result as well.
INPUT: The Bolivian Navy doing maneuvers in the South Pacific pulling water skiers behind their ships.

Beautiful! 👍👌
INPUT: A modern husband and wife living inside a giant TV set watching a TV program about TV, sipping tea out of alabaster goblets while their two dogs watch on from a teepee made out of green felt.

First of all, I love the giant analog TV. The “tea” does look like orange juice, but maybe it is tea from another dimension! I just realized that there is a doggie basket in the teepee; nice! 😍And the interpretation I love the most is there are four dogs instead of two and one has his head turned completely around 180 degrees like an owl! 😎
INPUT: A drab old industrial town in Northern England with flying harpies and blimp-like creatures.

Excellent, but again where are the harpies and blimp creatures? But then I did a deeper dive and discovered that there are Harpy Eagles: Harpy Eagle – American Bird Conservancy Silly me! 🤔
INPUT: Mel Gibson and Charlize Theron sharing a butterscotch sundae at a soda fountain at a 1950s Rexalls store.

Holy crap is this good!!! It’s a period piece waiting to be done! 😜(And is “seay trone” the term for “drugstore” in some forgotten or alien language?)
INPUT: Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Benjamin Netanyahu, Keri Starmer, and Xi Jinping sitting at a table playing World Monopoly at the palace of Versailles attended by money servants in frock coats.

Wow!!! I realized that I had two typos in the input, “Keri Starmer” should be Keir Starmer, the current British Prime Minister. And I meant “monkeys in frock coats”, but I still love Automattic’s interpretation.
INPUT: A Chinese junk pirate ship with a crew of women attacking a British man-o’-war commanded by Margaret Thatcher.

The ships are amusing, miniature amalgams of junks and British ships and maybe Thatcher is below decks, as a good PM should be…good stuff!
INPUT: A Burmese snake charmer with a blue-skinned goddess emerging from a wicker basket on a lazy afternoon in a bazar in Marrakech.

It’s beautiful and creepy at the same time, Ali Baba meets Kali! It’s the stuff of dreams and nightmares! 🤨
Craig Charles in a Spiderman outfit climbing the Burj Khalifa.

A Red Dwarf episode in which the crew travel back in time and space to 21st century Earth in order to curtail rampant capitalism but end up accelerating it instead in a hilarious Doug Naylor scenario.
Patrick McGoohan and Elisabeth Sladen relaxing in a giant cup of tea.

I love it! Actually the man looks more like Peter Faulk or Roger Ebert and the woman looks more like Doris Day! And Automattic decided to do it in cartoon style, which is great.
INPUT: A TV weatherman pointing to a weather map of the planet Pluto while a green alien girl calls the shots.

Sweet! Again, done in a cartoon style, but I love it! 👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽
A chihuahua driving a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air convertible in Jamaica.

It’s great, of course. James Bond would have a better chance against Dr. No with this little guy at his side!😊 (I actually have done two other versions of this, and they are all great.)
INPUT: Austin Powers and Dixie Normas gambling with live scorpions at Caesar’s Palace.

It looks like more like Harlan Ellison and Twiggy but I f*ckin’ love it!
INPUT: Me spuds are boiling!

Tasty! 😁’Nuff said…or unsaid, as the case may be.
INPUT: Beavers working at a sawmill cutting up redwood trees.

Very industrious critters; no wonder MIT uses one as their mascot. And maybe they are cutting up really young redwoods or redwood branches, because those mofos are enormous in real life! 😄 From Wikipedia: Hyperion is a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in California that is the world’s tallest known living tree, measured at 116.07 meters (380.8 ft) tall in 2019.

INPUT: Chess pieces playing a game with real live humans on a chessboard.

Initially I was disappointed in this because I thought it had it reversed, but actually there’s more than initially meets the eye. The humans playing are totally absorbed in the game, so in a sense maybe the way to look at it is that the pieces are controlling them! And it looks like there are too many white pawns and its hard to tell if there are multiple boards or just one extended one. Interesting stuff!
INPUT: A killer clown lying in a hotdog bun being slathered in mustard and relish by Oompa Loompas and gremlins in a bouncy castle designed by Antoni Gaudi.

As usual I was being greedy with this one, but there is still a lot to unpack. The killer clown probably should have been spelled “killer klown” but I realized that it is basically Ronald McDonald! How many people does eating fast food kill a year? Shades of The Heart Attack Grill in Vegas! 🙄The idea came to me from an episode of “Bozo the Clown” I had seen in my formative years as a chile; it apparently has caused me deep-seated trauma! Also I realized that he is a “candy covered clown” as well as being a “candy-colored clown”, shades of Roy Orbison’s song “In Dreams” and David Lynch’s film Blue Velvet. There are no Oompa Loompas but the gremlins are great; apparently even though they f*cked up our aircraft in WWII they are still secretly patriotic!

Humphry Bogart and Ingrid Bergman sipping a drink in a speakeasy as G-Men burst in on them in black and white.

It’s fantastic and captures the film noir look I was actually thinking about. The man doesn’t look like Bogie and the woman doesn’t look like Ingrid Bergman but she does look like Madonna! 😃 The G-Men are lost in the background gloom, but that’s because it is film noir!

INPUT: Giant wads of cash watching a race in which horses are riding humans around an oval track.

It’s great, but I initially thought that it missed one key detail until I looked closer. One of the jockeys actually has two heads, one a human’s head and one a horse’s head! And another jockey has a horse’s head, basically a reverse centaur!
INPUT: A gray submarine and a yellow submarine meeting in a human bloodstream.

I love it. The Bedford Incident meets The Yellow Submarine meets Fantastic Voyage!😋
INPUT: A mansion floating in the clouds suspended by colorful balloons and an elaborate dinner party is taking place with gentlemen and ladies in tuxedoes and ball gowns.

This image literally took my breath away! 🙂 And as happy as it makes me, I’m constantly reminded of how many graphic and 3D artists are going to be out of a job very soon. ☹️
INPUT: A group of spelunkers wearing advanced bio-suits descending a tortuous passage in a cave that leads to the center of the Earth.

Excellent. Edgar Rice Burrows would be proud!
INPUT: A punk princess in SoHo London playing a Fender Stratocaster while the Rolling Stones, The Who, and Iggy Pop are begging for change in the background.

Bloody brilliant, mate! I like the fact that she is a fan of The Stones. And Automattic went for a Strat bass.
